I do seem to remember reading on various boards that a lot of the 2006 thefts were done by people with wristbands. Pay 100 quid for a ticket, nick a few wallets, stashes and a couple of cameras, and you've got your ticket price back plus profit.

seems ridiculous I know but it happens.

Yeh, if you are a proper organised thief then you want to look as inconspicuous as possible and be able to enter and leave via the public gates unhindered.

As Twist said, get a few wallets and flashy phones/cameras and they still make loads of money on top of having to pay for a ticket.

My experience of fence jumpers at any festival has been that they are probably some of the better people in the site! But that's just my experience and opinion.

Well, paid to get in or not, they're all cunts.

And I wasn't suggesting in any way that all fence jumpers are robbing bastards.

Not that it's possible to fence jump Glade anyway...

Fom where did you get this info Don? I think the wreather put off most of the cunts last year, but I've never heard of organised gangs before. And why the fuck would organised criminals bother to pay for tickets?!

Its been pretty common the organised gang thing, they can get a big taking. people take a lot of money to festies and they get trashed and dont look after their possesions.

tbh with these new alcohol restrictions, and talk of cctv and getting robbed by organised gangs, i'm feeling a little disheartened about it all.

I need some good news about the festi to pep me up again!

yeah at glasto you get highly organised gangs, who go around offering people a sip of 'water'....when in fact it contains GHB and other nast tranqs, then they get on the walkie talkies to keep other members informed of who it is, follow those poor suckers about until they passout, then rob them.......Sad

oh, the evil at work in this world! no

corrupting the old raver looking after each other ethos to commit a crime against another human being.

I realise that this is nothing compared to Zimbabwe etc...but still.

I think the organised gang thing has been happening for years. Just put your stuff in your sleeping bag halfway down (not at the bottom just in case they stanley knife it), or better still buy a bum bag and wear it ALL the time, even when you are asleep and as others have said, don't take anything of great value. I've had stuff nicked and I remember Joyous has too and it's not a pleasant feeling. Have a thief free Glade everybody and catch up with some of you at Big Chill. I'm off to Womad - can't stand electronic music myself Wink

Well, as I said... I've been to every glasto since '87, every Glade, a couple of tribal gatherings (stellar lineup btw), homelands a few times, green gathering, reading (i know...) and sundry others and I have NEVER been robbed, mugged or even hassled by anyone.

Let's not get into Daily Mail/Crimewatch mode here kids, the chances of being done is pretty remote, I'd say.

*tempting fate, obv...*

Hey if we all stick together and get to know your neighbours ( people camping near you ). We should all be fine,

And if i remember right we chased a few theives off in 2006 at glade, As they were trying to get into other peoples tents while they sleep. So a handshake can do more for us all at Glade.

Make some noise if you see anything untoward and security should come running, and on the CCTV thing. Take photos of the gits and we could have our own wall of shame. As well as get the gits all they deserve.

Think saftey first. Party later.

I hope some one spikes me with GHB, As i wont have much money to party with at glade any way Very Happy

One of these uder the porch groundsheet should do the trick.

The only drawback with this plan is remembering its there when you are munted and stagger back to your tent. Hmmm I may have to rethink this plan.....

My tip is to bring some big zip-lock bags and stick wallets or anything valuable in them and then shove them an arms length under the groundsheet of your tent.
Obviously maybe not a good idea if it was like last year but it's not gonna be, so that's alright.

Dig a small hole in the ground underneath tent, preserving the top layer of grass. Then put stash (of legal items of cause) in to a sealed tupperware box, place box in hole, replace top layer of grass = never find it!

Edit: if a search by security/police does find it, deny all knowledge! In fact, if security do search your camp and you're there, deny you own a tent or anything at all!
