This might seem amazing, but I've never been to a festival before.
I was out in Bath on Saturday and saw a poster advertising System 7 and Eat Static and I was like "whoah, got to go to that".
I've messaged my friends but for various reasons none of them can make it, or want to go. Usual stuff like girlfriends and money etc.
So I'm considering going on my own. I mainly just want to see System 7/Mirror System, Eat Static, Zubzub and Gaudi because I've loads of their stuff on CD.
I'm at the pondering stage at the moment. I've got no problem with immersing myself in the festival on my own. On the other hand, it seems a bit anti social. I'm keen enough not to care that noone else I know can make it though.

I went to many of my earliest festivals alone and I can strongly recommend it. It is easy to talk to people at festivals and I have made many great friends at festivals, indeed I owe much of my current life; where I live, my marriage and thus everything I have to chance meetings at festivals.
A small festival like Waveform is a great way to lose your festival cherry, you'll have a great time.

I may also be there by myself, the bf is not sure yet if he can make it, I am a bit the same as you - it's not going to stop me going because as soon as I saw the festival I thought "yep, I really want to go!"
Just rely on the kindness of strangers and you usually can't go wrong!
Maybe if it was a massive event like Glastonbury it might be more daunting, but I think this one sounds really friendly and welcoming.
And in a funny way it is actually easier to start talking to people if you are by yourself, I find, because you kind of have to!

The Festival Weather camp is always very friendly, so both of you stay in touch with the forum and closer to the time get a few numbers of people and come camp with us! Every festival we adopt a few lone travellers and its always lots of fun!

I went on my own last year and had a great adventure. Hitched from Kent to Exeter which took me 10 hours, arrived at the Festival just In time for Toby Marks. Didn't have any accomadation as I couldn't manage the extra weight and thought I'l find somewhere I'm sure. By 4.30 Saturday morning I just wanted to get my head down for a couple of hours and I met Alan. Alan came bouncing out of the Solar Cinema and asked me where my tent was as I still had my rucksack on. Explained my story so far to him and he led me round to a tent that he had already put up, he called It his overspill tent. I had a fantastic time, met lot's of nice people on my way, met up with people that I know, met new friends there Especially Kes who I'm really looking forward to meeting up with again. I meet more people when I'm on my own, that's for sure. It took me 16 hours to get home, but It was all very worth It. Thanks to all the people who helped me out that weekend.

My version isn't nearly so eventful- I turned up at WF on a whim, met this lot and had such a lovely time I haven't left them alone since then MTT, TTB & Ozric, just come find us- total immersion or occasional drop in, you'll be very welcome
